"Bad Bunny: Spotify’s Most Streamed Artist Globally in 2021"
Last week, Spotify announced its annual 2021 Wrapped Campaign. The Wrapped Campaign shows users what they’ve listened to all year: top artists, songs, playlists and podcasts.
“Bad Bunny is a young urban music singer, rapper and producer originally from Puerto Rico. This talented artist has demonstrated his already overwhelming power, influence and demand with completely sold-out concerns all over Europe, Latin America and the U.S. Bad Bunny has had a short but stunning career with colossal amounts of success.” -Spotify
The Puerto Rican artist has dominated the music charts on Spotify once again with more than 9.1 billion streams globally, and Spotify’s most streamed artist in 2021 beating Taylor Swift and Drake.
Bad Bunny is showing the world unapologetically who he is through his language, culture, music, and fashion. He uses his platform to defy the status quo, with topics such as “machismo,” socially taboo in the Latinx community. The Puerto Rican artist has produced songs such as “Solo de mi,” standing against domestic violence, “Yo Perreo Sola,” fluidity of sexuality, and “Si Veo a Tu Mamá,” themes of mental health.
The artist told SPIN (via Zoom and in Spanish) in a recent interview: “I’m always proud to be Latino, to be from Puerto Rico, and to be from the Caribbean, and it’s always an honor to represent that worldwide,”
During another recent interview, the artist was asked what we can look forward to in 2022. The artist answered, “Same. I don’t want to be the number one most streamed artist. I just make music; I just enjoy my work. 2022 is going to be great!”
