Puerto Rican singer Nicky Jam is set to make his debut as a filmmaker, and he will do so with one of the screenwriters of “La Casa de Papel,” according to Mexican daily El Occidental. Nicky Jam is also in talks with Netflix to develop “La Perla,” a film he wrote and which will be his directorial debut. The “X” and “El Amante” singer said that the story is about “two boys in the neighborhood of La Perla, in Puerto Rico. We want to do something really big.”
“That’s the way it is. I had been working with this story for a long time, and I was given to meet the screenwriter of ‘La casa de Papel.’ He loved the story and talked to the people at Netflix. Regardless of whether it’s with them or whoever, we’re going to get it out”
These projects realize Nicky Jam’s dream of being a movie star. Nicky Jam is also preparing for his first movie star, as he recently produced a film in which he heads the cast. “We are filming it with a very big company, and I am going to be the main character. I can’t give out the information yet, but it’s the first Hollywood movie I’m going to star in.”
“It’s a dream because all my life I’ve been a fan of movies and this Hollywood stuff. It’s something I’ve always wanted in my life. Truth be told, the mere fact that I’ve been in three Hollywood movies, to say ‘I’ve been on the big screens” is enough; that’s not something everyone can say. I’m happy with that. If something else comes out, it’s all blessing.”
